MIRCEA ELIADE (1907–1986)
Mircea Eliade was a Romanian-born historian of religions and a novelist whose works were known in translation the world over. Eliade founded the modern study of the history of religions and was the author of numerous books, including The Myth of the Eternal Return and The Sacred and the Profane.
